With the east wind You break the ships of Tarshish. (Psalms 48:8)
Shabbat candlesticks have always been a symbol of home and family. Throughout the world and through the ages, Jews received the Shabbat accompanied by beautiful candlesticks- igniting the light of the Jewish soul which blankets the world. Once glance at these stunning candlesticks is enough to discover the spirit which resides within.
The design of Bolero Large Hammered Candlesticks is inspired by the luxurious velvet cloth used in “Bolero” dresses worn by the women of Spain. The unique quality of these stunning candlesticks lies in the countless small indentations hammered by hand into the soft silver. These artistic folds spill along the length of each candlestick creating the appearance of soft velvet fluttering in the breeze. The artist’s spirit- the spirit of Hazorfim is reflected in these subtle impressions which create a work of art inspired by He who causes the east wind to blow.
The Bolero collection sees pure silver fashioned after the luxurious velvet fabric used by Spanish women in Bolero dresses. To achieve the same “velvet” folds, Hazorfim’s expert silversmiths must polish the silver piece several times at various different stages of the work’s creation. Final polishing is done using both specially designed machine tools and traditional hand-crafting techniques.
