This modern-inspired 11 arm candelabra was inspired by the beautiful, intricate objects of Yemenite origin which were heavily adorned with filigree, the art of decorating with fine silver threads spliced and wound in artistic patterns. Looking at this sterling silver candelabra should spark a recognition of those ancient arts, but without sacrificing modern elegance and sophistication.
The silversmiths who worked on this 11 arm silver candelabra executed infinite patience for each of the spectacular filigree embellishments you see. In addition, the smooth, reflective silver surfaces offset the ornaments perfectly, adding a touch of modern class to a traditional style.
This 11 candle candelabra features a round base, raised up on elegant filigree feet with a flower motif. The base narrows into a stem, which widens and narrows as it rises toward the branches. A simple filigree design encircles the stem at several points, interrupting the clear, glossy silver along the way.
The branches of this dining table candelabra stretch out and then up slightly, ending with candle holders that remind us of goblets. The candle holders are round at the bottom, narrowing into a bulb and bursting out at the top. A touch of filigree graces the narrow part of the bulb and rims the top to finish off this lovely Judaica piece.
Handcrafted filigree requires the silversmith to return hundreds or even thousands of times to the basic pattern in order to create a simple touch of old-world style.
This silver candelabra, part of the Filigree Collection, pays special tribute to the Jews of Yemen and their artistic heritage.
For a unique Judaica piece that combines modern sensibility with traditional, stylized artistic flair, look no further than this 11 arm candelabra.
At Hazorfim, we chose to design a collection to pay homage to the special art of the Jews of Yemen and so we created the Filigree Collection, the central motif being crafted filigree. Filigree is the art of decorating by using fine silver threads spliced and wound in artistic patterns to form large, impressive silver decorations which adorn the pieces.
Filigree requires infinite patience as the craftsman persistently returns hundreds or thousands of times to the basic decoration pattern creating the spectacular adornments on the edges of each piece.
